During the course of the project I developed a series of circular painting tools, which create a movement imitating a flexible extension of the arm and enables painting in a new choreographic movement on a blank sheet of paper. The series includes 3 different size wheels, all invite to a process of discovery by empowering the creation of lines and patterns on the canvas. The user dips the wheel of ink, in a stamp like technique, choosing from a variety of different types of ink, and dives into the canvas. There is no correct way of using the Akalton, any form of experiment leads to different and new results.
The essence of the project is to encourage spontaneous creation and ignite personal expression, free and unique. In spite of the nature of our times, in which major parts of our daily life is spent in front of screens and keyboards, the project aspires to rejuvenate the joy of real touch and motion. The result is unique to each user and requires no former knowledge, experience nor talent in drawing. As there is no way to misuse the Akalton, it promotes the feeling of success and encourage the user to go back at it as an intuitive tool of expression.

The
Exhibition
Our graduate exhibition took place in Neve Zedek, Tel Aviv. My project was presented in an interactive way, in which visitors could use the Aklton either on a big sheet of paper or small postcards they could take home with them afterwards. The interactive presentation was naturally inviting , and was accessible to everyone from children to elderly, artists to the inexperienced.
